Materials needed:
Trowel, joint trowel, lath or whisk rope, plastic joint surplus, joint pump or course bag, spiral stone engine, container for mixing mortar (mortar boat - wheelbarrow - mortar bucket)
Surface Preparation Before Applying Culture Brick:
*** Culture brick; It can be applied to almost any surface with solid (rigid) surfaces such as reinforced concrete curtain, rough construction, column, beam, perforated brick, filling brick, ytong (aerated concrete). If there are situations that will adversely affect the adhesion process such as more than one coat of paint, moisture, pieces of insulation material, dirt, oil, dust, swelling, friable plaster residues on the surface, they should be eliminated. On large surfaces, the walls should be scraped off or the floor should be made ready for application by re-plastering. Drywall surfaces should be applied with joint tape or plaster with mesh.
* If the wall to be applied is damp, the wall body and surfaces must be dried.
Protection of Walls During Application:
*** During and after the application of decorative culture bricks, especially in order to gain sufficient strength by interacting with the joint adhesive used on the first day, it should be protected from liquids such as rain water, construction waste water, excessive heat, exposure to excessive sunlight, extreme cold and frost. It is recommended to cover the application with a canvas type nylon cover with a gap between it and the culture brick.
Stable Weather Conditions, Cleaning and Other Issues To Be Considered During The Application Of Decorative Brick:
*** Application of cultural brick should not be done at +4 degrees Celsius.
*** The application of the culture brick, which is planned to be made in the cold winter season, should be done 1 or 2 days after the joint filling process, as the time of gaining strength of the adhesive will extend in frosts. Since the joints will remain open during this process, the decorative wall covering should be protected by covering it with canvas or nylon derivative covers to protect the surface from precipitation and cold.
*** In the application of culture bricks in hot weather in summer, considering that the bricks may dry quickly and lose strength, the bricks to be walled should be moistened. (Practically, it is sufficient to immerse the bricks in a container filled with clean water before application.)
*** Due to the difference in the structure of the soil during the firing of the culture bricks, the color tones of the bricks may differ slightly. In order to prevent tonal differences during decorative brick wall covering and cultural brick application, brick coating should be taken from different boxes and mixed application should be made by considering color harmony.
*** During the application, care should be taken not to contaminate the adhesive mortar and filling material on the brick surface.
Application of Decorative Bricks and Joint Options:
* When material gets on the brick surface, the contaminated materials should be allowed to dry and the plastic should be cleaned with a hard brush or wire brush after it dries.
* Special compound Surface Cleaner should be used for very dirty surfaces.
* After the application, materials such as paint, varnish, vinegar, salt spirit etc. should not be applied on the brick surface.
